Atmosphere at the Boleyn now days
Only negative for me tonight (and in general at moment) is the atmosphere in the ground - fucking awful.

It was getting pretty shit when I stopped going a couple of seasons back but there were always still a few of us that would keep on giving it a go. You can literally here a pin drop now days.

For those that still go to games what's happened? Have the last of the hardcore singers stopped going, or have they just finally given up trying?

I'm hoping I can get to least one final game where I plan on jumping up in my old spot at the back at chicken run end of the BML and smashing the fuck out of the perspex glass to try get a bit we are west hams c&b army for old time sakes...even if I'm the only cunt singing it!

It's been shit for many years but even buy those standards it was piss poor. No BFS to blame either. Very dissapointing. Against that Andorran mob, people were actually queing at half time in a single file for food in the TBL. Never seen that before

Re: Atmosphere at the Boleyn now days
Those who are saying last night was a decent atmosphere - really? Even the commentator on the dodgy feed I was watching mentioned a couple of times how quiet it was.

Fair play if the sound mikes went picking up what was really going on but to me it seemed there was a bit of noise for 5 or so minutes after the goals went in and a decent chorus of bubbles at the end, but other than that it came across pretty poor. A display like that even 5 years ago would have had place buzzing a lot more than last night imo.

Those blaming it being all seater - the Ipswich play off semi final in 04 was probably the best I atmosphere I've ever known over there and I'm lucky enough to have experienced the terraces for a few years before they went. So whilst I would certainly agree terracing definitely helped make for a better atmosphere, I don't think it can just be blamed on that.

I'm plenty clam - just making an observation on how quiet it seemed. It has obviously hit a nerve with you.

I hope you're right in that the place will soon be rocking again. I just would have thought that after finally fucking off the fat oaf, coming into the game after tearing Liverpool apart at their own drum and playing like we were last night, the atmosphere would have already been rocking.

Glen Rodent - I bet you're one of those who sit quietly in the west stand, never singing or getting animated. I'm right aren't I?

Best thing about the Olympic stadium is that I can go shopping with the missus before and after games. It's win win.

Not to mention Jamie's Italian.

Ludo -- All joking aside -- fuck all that standing up bollox. You get a sore throat from shouting and singing.

It's best for all concerned if everyone just calms down - sits on their instagram/twitter/facebook accounts for 90 mins, then fucks off home.

Re: Atmosphere at the Boleyn now days
The atmosphere at The Boleyn vanished when Terry Brown re-developed it in a brainless manner to resemble a lob-sided frankenstein.

The main reason that I loathe him...I wouldn't of minded under-investment in the squad if we had a stadium to show for it but he really fucked it up.

So we are off to Stratford now - but the plot was big and wide enough for a 50,000 seater Boleyn

As it stands it's like a morgue - Only having 40% possession against Newcastle will do that though.

I quite like it, more civilized. Can read you kindle, kids can play on their ipads.

These song leaders should be charged with creating new inventive and catchy tunes.

Chuck in a man with a drum and someone else playing the trumpet - and before you know it , we could be up there with Crystal Palace in terms of atmosphere

All you need to know is if you're buying for kids, make sure you go upper tier unless they're rarely likely to go.

And yes, it's £99 regardless other than 1966 and corporate.

Fifth Column 4:16 Tue Sep 15
Re: Atmosphere at the Boleyn now days
Buster, it's £99 everywhere in the ground isn't it... so if you are in the more expensive areas the rake will be better and so they would get a reasonable view? Or am I misunderstanding?

Buster 4:11 Tue Sep 15
Re: Atmosphere at the Boleyn now days
'The rake on those lower tiers looks worryingly shallow.'

It is. I just hope loads of people haven't been duped into these £99 tickets because most kids under 10 won't see a thing.
